NORTH
BRIDGTON, ME—The Junior Hockey Wolverines hosted their in-state rivals, Hebron
Academy on Wednesday afternoon at Bridgton Ice Arena.
The
Wolverines came out of the gates flying with energy and a number of scoring
chances. Andrew Irving (Beverly, MA) got the scoring started in the first
period. BA faced adversity in the first period when they had to kill a major
penalty, plus a 5-on-3 penalty for two minutes. Irving would strike again with
an unassisted goal to put the Wolverines ahead 2-0 after one period of play.
The
second period would find the Wolverines taking a 4-0 lead after goals from
Tyler Etzkorn (Medfield, MA) on a tip in front of the Hebron net, and Brendon
Duff (Stellarton, NS) finishing a pretty backhanded play. Hebron did tally
their lone goal in the third period. The Wolverines got outstanding goaltending
from Nicolas Dupuis-Gaudreault (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) in their 4-1 win
over Hebron Academy.
The
Wolverines are back in action this weekend when they take part in the Northwood
Tournament in Lake Placid, NY, playing four games over the weekend.
