2010 COMMENCEMENT AWARDS




Bridgton Wolverine Hockey Players were honored with three of the major awards presented Saturday during Commencement.
RUSSELL A. PITNOFF '34 AWARD: The Pitnoff Chair is presented to a student who served his community and who takes pride in his experience at Bridgton Academy.
2010 Winner: Trey Rasmussen
HOUGH AWARD:Presented for outstanding leadership
2010 Winner: Kyle O'Connell
SPOONER AWARD:Spooner Award is given to the person whom the faculty has designated as the most outstanding in general excellence of studies, loyalty, and uprightness of character.
2010 Winner: Patrick Sen

TEAM MANGER HONORED


During Friday Nights 2010 Commencement Award Ceremony, Coach Jon Lounsbury presented an "Wolverine Award" to Bridgton Hockey Team Manager Cameron Meserve. The award is for someone who has gone above and beyond representing the Bridgton Academy Hockey Program. Cameron is the the son of current Wolverine Coach Mike Meserve and his wife Jen.

FRIDAY NIGHT COMMENCEMENT AWARDS





Bridgton Academy Hockey Team was well represented Friday's 2010 Commencement Award Ceremony.
FABELLO HOCKEY AWARD:Honoring John T. Fabello '34, late faculty member and coach, this award is presented to a hockey player(s) who has contributed most to his team through his drive, his desire, and his example of sportsmanship.
2010 Winner(s): Tad Gold and Patrick Sen
EDWARD F. BROWN FUND ESSAY PRIZE:Mr. Brown was a trustee of Bridgton Academy for 23 years and president of the board from 1888 until his death in 1909. Mr.Brown left a generous sum of money to permanently endow prizes he had sponsored during his lifetime.
2010 First Prize Winner:Patrick Sen
SYLVESTER SPELLING BEE:Dr. Charles Sylvester, former president of the Board of Trustee, left an endowment when he dies in 1942 for the purpose of sponsoring an annual spelling contest.

HOLT AWARDS:The Holt Awards are presented each year to the outstanding students is English, mathematics, social sciences, physical science and computer science.

DIANE C. FABELLO MEMORIAL AWARD:This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated exceptional interest and concern for his fellow students.

CHADBOURNE AWARD:This award is presented to the highest ranking student in the graduating class.
2010 Winner:Patrick Sen
FACULTY AWARD:This award is presented for academic diligence and all-round pleasant and positive attitude toward teachers, classmates, and bridgton Academy.

SPRING ACADEMIC AWARDS






Bridgton Academy Hockey was once again well represented this past Thursday Evening at the Spring Academic Awards
The following players each earned an academic award for most outstanding in subject area:
David Stevens - Geography
Trey Rasmussen - Anatomy
George Wickey - Calculus
Kyle Montgomery - Oceanography
Ian Edwards - Intro to Micro Comp Software
Nate Potter - English

HOCKEY BANQUET





Bridgton Academy Ice Hockey celebrated a great season and recognized a few deserving players with their 2010 Hockey Banquet.
The event started with a wonderful meal followed by presentation of the "Team Manager Awards". Team Manager, Cam Meserve, awarded Kyle O'Connell, the loudest bang off the glass award for his numerous missed shots. Nate Potter was awarded "The Biggest Bully Award", for picking on the Team Manager all year. George Costa won "The Biggest Kid Award" and was presented with his own matchbox truck to play with. Robby Campbell was awarded the "Muscle Mass" and was presented a T-Shirt. Chris Howard was earned himself "Most Likely to Be Asleep Award". Lastly, Mike Iacobucci was presented with "The Best Facial Hair Award". The audience also enjoyed a season highlight video constructed by Mr. John Campbell, father of Robert Campbell.

Following the Manager Awards, Coaches Lounsbury and Meserve presented the 2009-2010 Ice Hockey Awards. The Unsung Hero Award, which is awarded to the person who quietly gives 100% was presented to David Stevens(Lynn, MA/Lynn English High School).

Jake Donahue(Swampscott, MA/Swampscott High) was presented The Most Improved Award which is given to the player who has improved as a hockey player the most throughout the year.

The Coaches Award is given each year to a player who the Coaches feel best represent the program. This year Coach Lounsbury and Meserve had numerous players who could of won this award. After serious debate, the Coaching Staff elected to present the award to Team Captain Kyle O'Connell(Bridgewater, MA/Bridgewater Raynham High).

The last award presented is the 410 Award. This award is named for Bridgton Hockey Players Patrick Reddy and Brian Doucette who tragically lost their lives in an automobile accident. The award is presented to the player who is considered the best teammate by his peers. This year, Bridgton Hockey, welcomed back to campus the Doucette Family to help present the award. Tim Haroules(Westford, MA/Westford Academy) was voted on by his peers as this years recipient.

After the awards were given out, each member of the team was presented a copy of the video, a team photograph and a sports participation certificate. Additionally, the team present Team Manager Cam Meserve with a Boston Bruins sweat shirt and Lucic t-shirt.

Bridgton Academy Hockey is proud to announce Patrick Sen(Niles, IL/Loyola Academy) as the 2010 Bridgton Academy Valedictorian. Patrick completed his year at Bridgton as the top student and will continue his academics and athletic career at Babson College.
