NORTH
BRIDGTON, ME—The Junior Hockey Wolverines hosted National Sports Academy for
two games this past weekend at Bridgton Ice Arena.
In game
one on Saturday night, the Wolverines would find themselves in a 1-0 deficit
after one period of play. In the second frame, the Wolverines would explode for
four goals from Tyler Burton (Wabash, NF), Zach Lemerand (Grosse Ile, MI), and
two from Connor Demore (Watertown, MA). Ryan Slatky gave BA great goaltending
between the pipes to earn the victory, with a final score of 4-1.
In game
two on Sunday, the Wolverines would exchange goals in the first period with NSA
to find themselves in a 1-1 tie after the first frame. BA’s first goal came
from Andrew Irving (Beverly, MA) on the man advantage. BA would then surrender
three second period goals, which resulted in them trailing 4-1 after two
periods of play. The Wolverines would find energy and urgency in their game to
rally in the third period. BA would register two goals in the final period from
Trip Franzese (Marblehead, MA) and Irving for his second tally of the afternoon
but, it was too little too late and BA fell to a final score of 4-3 to split
the weekend with NSA. Both Nicolas Dupuis-Gaudreault (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu,
QC) and Mike DeFilippo (Montreal,QC) would see time in net.
The
Wolverines are back in action this weekend when they host the Boston Junior
Bruins Saturday night, then are on the road Sunday for a tilt just over the
border against Stanstead Prep on Sunday afternoon.
