BA (Junior) vs. National Sports Academy


January 25 & 26, 2014
NORTH BRIDGTON, ME—The Junior Hockey Wolverines hosted National Sports Academy for two games this past weekend at Bridgton Ice Arena.
In game one on Saturday night, the Wolverines would find themselves in a 1-0 deficit after one period of play. In the second frame, the Wolverines would explode for four goals from Tyler Burton (Wabash, NF), Zach Lemerand (Grosse Ile, MI), and two from Connor Demore (Watertown, MA). Ryan Slatky gave BA great goaltending between the pipes to earn the victory, with a final score of 4-1.
In game two on Sunday, the Wolverines would exchange goals in the first period with NSA to find themselves in a 1-1 tie after the first frame. BA’s first goal came from Andrew Irving (Beverly, MA) on the man advantage. BA would then surrender three second period goals, which resulted in them trailing 4-1 after two periods of play. The Wolverines would find energy and urgency in their game to rally in the third period. BA would register two goals in the final period from Trip Franzese (Marblehead, MA) and Irving for his second tally of the afternoon but, it was too little too late and BA fell to a final score of 4-3 to split the weekend with NSA. Both Nicolas Dupuis-Gaudreault (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) and Mike DeFilippo (Montreal,QC) would see time in net.

The Wolverines are back in action this weekend when they host the Boston Junior Bruins Saturday night, then are on the road Sunday for a tilt just over the border against Stanstead Prep on Sunday afternoon.

BA (Prep) at Islanders Hockey Club Showcase

The Prep Hockey team had a busy past weekend as well with and equal four games in three days. The first game was against Valley Forge Minutemen, with BA starting the game very flat. When Bridgton let in an early goal, it would be the only goal of the game from both teams. Later that night the prep team had their second game against Suffolk PAL.  BA would strike first with a goal from Daniel Fontaine (Burillville, RI) assisted by Luke Packer (Byfield, MA). Unfortunately that was not enough for the Wolverines, as they would lose 4-1. The next morning BA took on the Hitmen losing 3-0. For the final game of the weekend, BA took on the Kings and would lose 4-0. The Wolverines look to bounce back on Wednesday as they take on Middlebury College. 

BA (Juniors) @ Northwood Tournament January 17-19, 2014


LAKE PLACID, NY—The Junior Hockey Wolverines participated in the 2014 Northwood Tournament this past weekend, playing four games in three days.
The Wolverines opened the tournament playing Kuper Academy. BA came out of the gates with tons of energy and took a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals from Tyler Burton (Wabash, Labrador) and Andrew Irving (Beverly, MA). The final score was 3-0, BA with a power play goal from Trip Franzese (Marblehead, MA)in the second period. Michael DeFilippo (Montreal, QC) provided BA with great goaltending, earning the shut-out.
That evening, BA would take on Ridely College. It was a back and forth affair with both teams skating strong and registering a number of scoring chances. BA would strike first with an even strength goal from Ryan McDonough (Dorchester, MA). Ridely would tie things up in the second period, which resulted in a 1-1 final score. Ryan Slatky (Manchester, NH) competed hard in between the pipes and kept BA in the game.
On Saturday, the Wolverines would take on the hosts, Northwood Junior team. BA Skated strong and competed hard and had a number of scoring chances but saw none convert. BA would fall to a final score of 3-0, with many positives coming from the game. Nicolas Dupuis-Gaudreault (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) gave the Wolverines great goaltending in net.
BA would wrap up the tournament on Sunday morning when they took on Hill Academy. They would fall to final score of 5-0.
The Wolverines are back in action this weekend when they host National Sports Academy for two home games at BIA, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

BA (Juniors) vs. Hebron Academy

NORTH BRIDGTON, ME—The Junior Hockey Wolverines hosted their in-state rivals, Hebron Academy on Wednesday afternoon at Bridgton Ice Arena.
The Wolverines came out of the gates flying with energy and a number of scoring chances. Andrew Irving (Beverly, MA) got the scoring started in the first period. BA faced adversity in the first period when they had to kill a major penalty, plus a 5-on-3 penalty for two minutes. Irving would strike again with an unassisted goal to put the Wolverines ahead 2-0 after one period of play.
The second period would find the Wolverines taking a 4-0 lead after goals from Tyler Etzkorn (Medfield, MA) on a tip in front of the Hebron net, and Brendon Duff (Stellarton, NS) finishing a pretty backhanded play. Hebron did tally their lone goal in the third period. The Wolverines got outstanding goaltending from Nicolas Dupuis-Gaudreault (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) in their 4-1 win over Hebron Academy.
The Wolverines are back in action this weekend when they take part in the Northwood Tournament in Lake Placid, NY, playing four games over the weekend.

BA Prep vs. Maine Moose


BA Prep Hockey had two games this past weekend, with the first game being Friday night against the Maine Moose. The Wolverines took it to them and made a huge statement with everyone contributing to secure the 6-4 win. On Saturday, the Wolverines came out very strong and quickly went up 4-0. Game highlights include great goaltending from Dan Curran (Chelmsford, MA) and great offense from Ethan Thompson (Canyon, CA). Unfortunately, a couple of errors lead to a breakdown, which hurt the Wolverines and resulted in a loss. The prep team is back in action on Wednesday against North Yarmouth Academy.
