The
Bridgton Academy Junior Hockey Wolverines traveled south to Biddeford to play a
matinee against the Maine Wild on Wednesday afternoon. The Wild took an early
1-0 lead from a short-handed goal. The Wolverines would even up the score at
one from a Brendan Duff (Stellarton, Nova Scotia) goal.
The
second period got underway with the Wild taking a 2-1 lead. Ryan Shea
(Pembroke, MA) would then even up the score at two, with a power play goal.
The third
period saw the two teams exchange scoring bids. At the end of regulation the
score remained 4-4. A five minute overtime period saw the Wolverines get the
game-winner after Luke DiMarco (Glastonbury, CT) collected a turnover at the
red line and fed Zach Lemerand (Grosse Ile, MI) a pass that Lemerand wristed
past the Wild net minder.
Brendan
Duff had two goals, while Ryan Shea, and Zach Lemerand added a goal apiece.
Nicolas Dupuis-Gaudreault (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) collected his first
win in net.
The Wolverines
return to action this weekend when they host Rice AAA for two games at Bridgton
Ice Arena on Friday night at 7pm and Saturday at 12pm.
