Jr Team Announces Captains.

The Bridgton Academy Junior Team Hockey Coach Jonathan Lounsbury recently announced that defenseman Matt Lis (Wettersfield, CT) and Dustin Walsh (Concord, NH) will serve as captain for the 2012-2013 season. "These two young men are exemplary leaders for our squad" said Lounsbury. "Lis was an easy pick since day one. A very quiet young man who does everything at 100%, he is a lead by example kind of guy. Walsh brings more of the vocal leadership to the locker room. Not only has he worked his tail off to get where he is today, the guys really respect him and listen when he has something to say. We expect our captains to set good examples for their teammates both on the ice and off, and these two players have the ability to do that.”

The Wolverines opened up their season with two games against a tough New England Wolves squad. On Saturday night the Wolverines fought hard for 60 minutes and came up short losing to the Wolves by a score of 4-2. "We made a few mistakes during the game and unfortunately those mistakes found the back of the net. The Wolves had played 9 games prior to playing us and it was our first. I'm proud of the effort and excited to see the growth in our team" said Lounsbury. Chris Eiserman backstopped the Wolverines stopping 31-35 shots. Goals came from Alex Vincellete (Hadley, MA)assisted by Mitch Paulson (Winthrop, Ma) Connor Ferrera ( Coto De Caza, CA)and Kevin Doherty (Wakefield, MA) unassisted.

On Sunday the Wolverines played game two against the Wolves and came up short again. "We came out too wound up and our nerves got the best of us. After the 2nd period our staff told our young men to relax and have fun. Our third period was outstanding, unfortunately it was too late." Connor Murray played well in net stopping 28-32 shots his faced. The lone goal for the Wolverines came from Jon Fanara(Dennis,MA) assisted by Connor Ferrera. "I am very happy to get a few games under our belt and get the jitters out. I have all the confidence in the world that we as a team will bounce back and start the climb to a record breaking year" added Lounsbury. The Wolverines square up tonight Oct 5th, 7:00PM against rival Sainte Foy (Quebec)at Home.
