STANDSTEAD COLLEGE KNOCKOUT
The game of hockey is 60 minutes long. Unfortunately, BA found out the hard way what happends if you play 50 minutes. Within a 5 minute span in the second period and a 5 minute span in the third period, Standstead scored 4 goals. Before and after that time, BA's defense was outstanding. Great end zone defense, closing the gap between themselves and opposing players and just being very physical. Ian Edwards(Linden, MI/Motor City Chiefs) turned aside 32 shots in goal for BA.
One goal of the coaching staff was for players to put more puck to the net. "Tonight we had 30 shots on goal, but we have to figure out a way to get some of those in a better scoring area. Unfortunately, we really have to learn to pay the price for going into that area" said Assistant Coach Mike Meserve. Defenseman David Stevens(Lynn, MA/Lynn English High) scored the lone Bridgton goal. Mike Iacobucci(Franklin, MA/Franklin High) and Patrick Martin(Hanover, MA/Hanover High) earned the assists.
Bridgton has also been on a scoring slump. In their last 10 games, they have only managed 16 goals. Additionally, the have only averaged 21 shots on goal during that time.
