BRIDGTON HOCKEY GOAL PROGRAM AT SBES

The Wolverine Hockey Team made their third appearance to Stevens Brook Elementary School. Mrs. Webb's Kindergarten class was visited by Captain Kyle O'Connell, Mr. Brundage's 3rd grade class welcomes Tad Gold and Robby Campbell, Mrs. Lepage's class worked on reading comprehension with George Costa and Nate Potter, Mrs. Van Atta's class enjoyed some gym time with Jake Donahue and Ian Edwards, Mrs. Jones' class played "Pass the Pig" with Patrick Martin and Patrick Sen and finally Mrs. Clark's worked on math games with Nick Billingham and Mike Iacobucci.

BA STUNS ROTHESAY NETHERWOOD

Bridgton decided to bring everything, including the kitchen out for their final game in Lake Placid. Bridgton took on the Rothesay Netherwood School and did an excellent job at both ends of the ice. After the first period, the score was knotted 0-0, but BA held a 18-12 shot advantage. This season, BA has had a few mental lapse during a game. Most times, these "lapses" turned into great scoring opportunities for heir opponents. Darren Casey-Covell(Orono, ME/Bangor High School) took a feed from Casey Helms(Sandwich, MA) gained the offensive zone, cut to the right and buried a snap shot blocker side. BA continued to press and Patrick Sen(Niles,IL/Loyola Academy) tipped in a Trey Rasmussen (West Tisbury, MA/Martha's Vineyard High School) shot to give BA a 2-0 edge. However, controlling the game and finishing the game are two different things. Rothesay cut the lead to 2-1 and then with 3 minutes to play scored the equalizer on the power play. BA continued to pressure, but was unable to score. With 34 seconds remaining, BA ran the Martha's Vineyard Hustle. Mike Iacobucci(Franklin, MA) one the face off in the BA zone back to Rasmussen, who immediately shot the puck in front of his net and which then deflected off the boards into the neutral zone.
Fellow Vineyard alum Tad Gold(Oaks Bluff, MA/Martha's Vineyard High School)took off as soon as Iacobucci won the draw and walked in on a breakaway. Storybook ending? Nope. The Rothesay goalie got a piece of the shot and it sailed 10 feet to the left of the goal. Tie Game? Nope. Patrick Martin(Hanover, MA) also was driving up the ice a banged the rebound in behind the Rothesay goalie....BA wins 3-2!!! Goalie Robby Campbell(Braintree, MA) picked up the win in goal.

WOLVERINE MANAGER SET RECORD

Cam Meserve, BA Hockey Team Manager, broke his previous chicken nugget devoured record by 14 this past weekend in Lake Placid. The previous record of 42, was destroyed when Cam took down an unbelievable 56 nuggets. Ex-BA Hockey Coach and current Nichols School Coach Jamie Printz was astonished when he witnessed the feat. "I truly thought the 44 nuggets would stand for a few more years."
Captain Kyle O'Connell added, "I wish I could be an eating machine like Cam. It was amazing watching him take down all those nuggets".

NICHOLS DOWNS BA 6-1

Game 2 was another 6-1 loss for BA. Bridgton poured 34 shots on the Nichols and could only manage one goal. Patrick Sen(Niles, IL/Loyola Academy) scored a gorgeous one time from the high slot. Aaron Semiao(North Reading, MA) and Jesse Shavel(Cumberland, ME/Greely High School) worked the puck down low in the Nichols zone and allowed Sen to find an open lane for BA's lone goal.
The second half of the game, Nichols capitalized on three power play opportunities to put the game out of reach and eliminate BA from tournament contention.
"I thought at times we played really well. Worked hard, battle down low with and without the puck and ready brought a physical presence to the game. Guys like O'Connell, Donahue and Savage really punished their opponents every chance they had" said Assistant Coach Mike Meserve
Through the first two games, BA has been outscored 12-2, but those number don't account for the strong play of Captain Kyle O'Connell(Bridgewater,MA/Bridgewater Raynham High School). Many spectators commented on how dominate O'Connell was in both games. He managed to have a handful of highlight reel hits each game and made opponents aware of him on the ice.

NORTHWOOD 6 BA 1

The 6 -1 loss looks loopsides, but if it wasn't for a few bad endzone turnover and poorly timede defensice steps, BA was in this game. Northwood displayed some great skills, but BA brought their level of toughness to a whole new level. Northwood players were greeted often by driving Wolverine players. Unfortunately, Norwthwwod capitalized on their offensive opportunities and BA didn't Goalie Ian Edwards(Linden, MI/Motor City Chiefs) turned aside 36 shots in the lose. Aaron Semiao(North Reading, MA) scored the lone BA goal, with Patrick Sen(Niles, IL/Loyola Academy)and Jesse Shavel(Cumberland, ME/Greely High) picked up the assists.

WELCOME TO LAKE PLACID

Bridgton Academy enjoyed a leasurely drive through Vermont, across a ferry on Lake Champlain and through Northern New York and arrived Thursday evening in Lake Placid, NY. Coach Lounsbury had set up a practice at the Olympic Facility at the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena.

HEBRON REGAINS FABELLO CUP

Bridgton and Hebron Academy play a series of games ever year to see who will claim the Fabello Cup. The past two years, Bridgton has managed to keep the cup on campus. However, Hebron went to work capitalizing on numerous Wolverine turnovers and crushed BA 6-1. "We still have a lot of trouble with turnovers in our zone. Hebron did an outstanding job capitalizing on the turnovers. We did a great job not turning over the puck for 50 minutes, but those 10 minutes we did, they hurt us" said Coach Jon Lounsbury.
