The Bridgton Academy hockey team came back from a much needed Thanksgiving break and showed Coach Lounsbury and Coach Meserve how much they love playing hockey. "To date, this has been our best week of practice. Guys were highly motivated and truly impressed me with their attitudes" said Head Coach Jon Lounsbury. The coaching staff used a very high tempo practice plan all week and they expect the effort to carry over when BA takes on rivals Hebron Academy, Friday December 4 at Hebron.

BA did manage to have some fun at practice as well. Thursday pre-game practice finished with "Pick A Winner". This is when the entire team lines up and continues to take breakaways until there is only one man left. Not surprisingly, Coaches Lounsbury and Meserve made it to the semi-finals, but a special guest outshinned everyone. Head Lacrosse Coach Garret Bamann won the contest with a move which surprised everyone including himself. "Coach Bamann really showed us some fantastic moves. I wasn't sure a human body was suppose to move that way, but it really worked out for him during "Pick A Winner", said Team Captain Kyle O'Connell.

Bridgton Hockey has busy weekend planned. This weekend also happens to be the Bridgton Academy Hockey Alumni Game. The team will welcome back 40 alumni for a
2:15pm game. They will also welcome Rice AAA Midget Program Saturday 7:00pm and Sunday 11:00am.

ATLANTA KNIGHTS TOP WOLVERINES 6-2

BA and Atlanta squared off in the final game of the Warrior Classic. Atlanta definitely came out flying, peppering Goalie Robby Campbell (Braintree, MA/Braintree High School) with 18 first period shots. "We did a terrible job in front of our own goal. We left Robby all alone too often and Atlanta made us pay," said Head Coach Jonathan Lounsbury. The Knights scored 6 goals in the first half, all within 4 feet of the goal. We have some big, tough defensemen, but they were outworked and out muscled by the Knights" quoted Assistant Coach Mike Meserve. BA did manage one goal in the first half. Patrick Sen (Niles, IL/Loyaola Academy) scored to make it a 6-1 game. Tad Gold (Oaks Bluffs, MA/Martha's Vineyard High School) and Trey Rasmussen (West Tisbury, MA/Martha's Vineyard High School) collected the helpers on Sen's third goal of the tournament.

Whatever was said in intermissions must of worked, BA came out running and gunning. They controlled the play down low, limited some shots in front and managed to win the period 1-0. Nate Potter (White River Junction,VT/Hartford High School) stopped all 22 shots he faced, including a nice glove save on a partial breakaway. Sen scored his 2nd goal of the game and 4th of the tournament when he took a feed from Gold and buried the puck past the Atlanta keeper.

Coach Meserve noted,"We had one bad period all weekend. We played our best hockey to date and I am extremely pleased how hard we battled."

WOLVERINES END LOSING STREAK

Bridgton Academy ended a seven game losing streak by defeating the Ontario Hockey Academy 4-1. Bridgton has been playing some great hockey, but have had some real tough breaks of late.
In this contest, BA came out flying. Peppering the OHA goalie with 12 first half shots. OHA did manage to score on a loose puck, but BA answered right back when George Costa (Winthrop, MA/Winthrop High School) out muscled a OHA player for the goal. Nick Billingham (Oak's Bluff, MA/Martha's Vineyard High School) and Tom MacInnes (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth North High School) picked up the assist. Tied 1-1, BA responded five minutes later when Patrick Sen (Niles, IL/Loyola Academy) scored a power play goal with Mike Iacobucci (Franklin, MA/Franklin High School) and Tad Gold (Oaks Bluffs/Martha's Vineyard High School)grabbing assists. BA's power play was excellent moving the puck around and opening seems.
In the second period, BA continued to control the puck down low driving puck after puck to the OHA net. Sen scored his second goal of the game when he took a feed from Gold and went in on a breakway. He faked forehand and left a backhand right under the crossbar. Not to be outdone, Costa put in his second goal of the game when he banged in a Kyle O'Connell (Bridgewater, MA/B-R High School) shot. MacInnes also picked up his second assist of the game.
Ian Edwards (Linden, MI/Motor City Chiefs) stopped 14 shots and picked up the win for BA.

BRIDGTON VS NSA REMATCH

Bridgton's first game in the Warrior Classic was a rematch against National Sports Academy. Bridgton's game plan was to limit the amount of shot in the slot and to use three different forecheck systems. "Overall, it worked very well. We confused NSA on the breakout by using our standard aggressive forecheck, then we implemented a trap, then we used a third forecheck to eliminated d to d puck movement" said Head Coach Jonathan Lounsbury. The only scoring in the first half was a power play goal by NSA. Nate Potter (White River Junction, VT/Hartford High School)turned aside the other 10 shots he faced that period. Defensively, Trey Rasmussen(West Tisbury, MA/Martha's Vineyard HS)and Dave Stevens (Lynn, MA/Lynn English High School)did a real nice job shutting down their opponents.
The second half saw BA create more scoring opportunities by caring the puck deep in the offensive territory. BA was able to use their size in attacking the goal over and over. Finally, Defenseman Tim Haroules (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) snuck a shot from the point past the NSA goaltender. Patrick Sen(Niles, IL/Loyola Academy)and Rasmussen picked up the assists. However, seven minutes later, NSA capitalized on a BA turnover and took a one goal lead. Bridgton continued to press the attack, but were unable to find the back on the net. Overall, it was BA's most complete game of the season. Bridgton looks to rebound Saturday 2:00pm against the Ontario Hockey Academy.

WOLVERINES FALL TO RANGERS 5-4

Games are played over 60 minutes and for the first 20 minutes the Wolverines dominated the Boston Junior Rangers. BA outshot the Rangers 15-13 and went into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead. Pat Sen (Niles, IL/Loyola Academy) scored his fourth goal of the season. Sen's powerplay goal came when he banged in a rebound in front of the net. Evan Schwender (Saundertown, RI/North Kingston High School) and Tad Gold (Oak Bluff, MA/Marthas Vineyard High School) picked up the assists. With BA up 1-0 they countinued their attack. Corbin Bourque (Charlestown, MA/Lexington High School) took a feed from Tom MacInnes (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth North High School) and walked in alone to beat the Ranger's goalie. Schwender also picked up his second assist of the game. The rangers manged to sneak one by Robby Campbell (Braintree, MA/ Braintree High School)just before the break.
The start of the second period saw the Rangers pushing the Wolverines all over the ice. The Rangers scored two unanswered goals and had a 3-2 lead until Pat Martin (Hanover, MA)/Hanover High School) buried a Darren Casey-Covell (Orono, MA/Bangor High School) rebound to tie the game going into the intermission. Kyle O'Connell(Bridgewater, MA/Bridgewater-Raynham High School) also added an assist on the tying goal.
When things are going bad, usually a few lucky bounces help. However, the Wolverines were the victims of a few bad breaks. The Rangers took a 4-3 lead on a power play goal. A shot from the point, which was going wide, hit the shaft of a stick and deflected pass Campbell. Bridgton came right back to tie the game when Colin Hurd (West Tisbury, MA/Marthas Vineyard High School) took some abuse in front on another rebound goal. Martin and Casey-Covell picked up the assists.
Unfortunately, another bad break led to Rangers game winner. With nine minuted remaining, the Wolverines threw everything at the Rangers, but were unable to score.
The Wolverines look to get back on track next weekend when they participate in the Warriors Classic Tournament in Haverhill, MA. The first game of the weekend will be a rematch against National Sports Academy Friday November 13th, 3:30 PM.

WELCOME TO THE EJHL

The South Shore Kings shot and shot and shot. They finished with 72 shots for the game and and 11-0 win. BA learned a valuable lesson about competing every second or every shift. The Kings used a great transition game and worked the puck to the high slot. BA's goalies did a great job stopping the first shot, but were unable to stop the second or third rebounds.
BA finished with 14 shots and was 0-5 on the power play.

KODIAKS TAKE DOWN BA 3-1

Bridgton Academy played one of their better games of the season, but couldn't crack the Kodiak's goalie. Bridgton played a much tougher game than their past few. They finished checks and really made the Kodiaks pay for every inch of ice. Nate Potter (Hartford, VT) stopped 13 of 14 shots he faced in the first 25 minute period. Unfortunately, BA's penalty killed allowed a later first period goal. BA finished the period strong and Darren Casey-Covell (Orono, ME) made a nice move in the offensive zone, cut to his forehand and buried a wrist shot low blocker side. Colin Hurd (West Tisbury, MA) and David Stevens (Lynn, MA) picked up the assists.
The second half, was more of the same. Ba controlled the 5-5 play. Overall for the game, BA only allowed 9 shots when the team was even strength. Special teams proved to be BA's downfall. With BA on the powerplay, the Kodiaks got a lucky bounce and scored shorthanded. The game continued back and forth, BA desperately trying to even the score. Shorthanded, BA saw their hopes dashed as the Kodiaks scored their second power play goal of the game.
"I thought our team really battle tonight. We just couldn't capitalize on our chances" said Head Coach Jonathan Lounsbury.

BULLDOGS BITE WOLVERINES

The Boston Bulldogs took apart BA Sunday afternoon 8-2. The Bulldogs simply outworked and outplayed the unenergized BA Team. Through 1 period, the Bulldogs led 4-0 and outshot BA 19-3. The 2nd and 3rd period where a much better indicator of how BA is capable of playing. The Wolverines brought back their hard nose style and manged to pressure the Bulldogs. BA scored their first goal, when Mike Iacobucci (Franklin, MA) buried a rebound off a George Costa (Winthrop, MA) shot. Patrick Sen (Niles, IL) also added an assist on the play. BA then added their second goal of the game when Sen drove in a rebound off the stick of Kyle O'Connell (Bridgewater, MA). Their second goal came on the power play, which up to this point lacked any results. Costa picked up his second assist of the game, using his big 6'3" body to drive the net and engage Bulldog players. Goalie Ian Edwards (Linden, MI) finished with 25 saves through 30 minutes, while Goalie Robby Campbell (Braintree, MA) stopped 22 the rest of the way.
BA has some room for improvement and thus far has been unable to play a complete 60 minutes. If they want to be successful Coaches Lounsbury and Meserve will have to figure a way to light a fire under them.

BA FALLS TO NSA 5-1

The Wolverines suffered a tough loss at the hands of the National Sports Academy. NSA came out flying and never looked back after taking a 3-0 lead after the first period. In the first period, BA was outshot 21-4. Goalie, Robby Campbell (Braintree, MA), played outstanding in goal turning aside shot after shot. Bridgton's lone goal came on the power play. Patrick Thornton (Dublin, CA) snapped a shot from the top right circle just under the crossbar. Pat's first goal of the season came on the power play. However, the speed of NSA proved too much for BA as their record fell to 5-3 overall.
On Sunday, Bridgton welcomes the Boston Bulldogs of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League. Faceoff will be at 11am.

GOAL PROGRAM SCORES ONE FOR SBES

Stevens Brook Elemetery School. The "GOAL" Program is a community service project which all Bridgton Academy Hockey players participate. It involves visits to different educational centers where players assist teachers in implementing reading, writing and math curriculum.
Coach Mike Meserve, joined BA players Shawn Wassel, Chris Howard, Pat Martin, Ian Edwards, Robby Campbell, Nate Potter, Evan Schwender, Jimmy Savage and Trey Rasmussen at Stevens Brook Elemetery. Players instructed and assisted students in Mrs. Lepage's 3rd grade class, Mrs. Jones' 2nd grade class and Mrs Clark's 1st grade class.
As a treat, each class received an autographed team sheet they can keep and add new signatures when the boys come back in for a visit.

WHERE HAS THE OFFENSE GONE? GLADES EDGE BA 2-0

The Wolverines traveled Wednesday to South Burlington to take on the Vermont Junior Glades(EJHL). The Wolverines had some definite issues in this game keeping up with the Glades. The Glades showed BA how moving your feet and driving to the net, creates scoring opportunities. BA was forced to chase the Glades around their zone and were outshot 16-4 in the first period. The very strong play of goalie Ian Edwards (Linden, MI/Motor City Chiefs) kept BA in the game. "Ian was spectacular through the first period. He turned aside shot after shot and we did very little to help him" said Assistant Coach Mike Meserve.
The second and third period was more of the same. Finally, with about 10 minutes gone in the third. The Glades broke through Edwards' armour for the first goal of the game. Edwards turned aside the first shot, the second and finally the Glades buried their third try. The Glades held a 1-0 lead until Bridgton Academy Alum, Ben Pearl (Essex, VT) snuck one in just under the crossbar and guarantee the Glades victory. Edwards finished with 42 saves in the loss.
BA will be looking to rebound 7pm Friday 10/30/09 at Bridgton Ice Arena, when they take on the National Sports Academy.

KODIAKS GET REVENGE 3-0

The Eastern Kodiaks came back to Bridgton looking to settle a score. In their first meeting, BA defeated the Kodiaks 4-0. The Kodiaks came our hard and put pucks to the net every opportunity they had. Robby Campbell (Braintree, MA) stopped 10 shots in the first period, before a rebound gave the Kodiaks a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission. The Wolverines skated well and pressed the play, but were unable to capitalize on any chances. "We put the puck to the net, but didn't drive after the puck like we did the first time we played" said Head Coach Jonathan Lounsbury.

The Second period was a classic back and forth defensive struggle. Neither team generating much offense and neither team willing to pay the price for going to the front of the net. Bridgton did manage to outshoot the Kodiaks 10-7 for the period.

In the final period, Bridgton came out flying. Taking the puck down low, moving it quickly out of the defensive zone. BA desperately tried to even the score up. However, the Kodiak's goalie answered the challenge. The Kodiaks finally put the game out of reach when they scored on two more odd man rushes. BA did outshoot them 25-23, but couldn't find away to drive one home.

WOLVERINES DROP MOOSE 5-4 IN OT

The Bridgton Academy Wolverines welcomed the Maine Moose for the first game of the 2009-2010 season. With parents, faculty, students and alumni in attendance, the Wolverines came out hot. They put 19 shots on the Moose goalie, while allowing only 9 on starting goalie Nate Potter (Hartford, VT). Darren Casey-Covell (Orono, ME) started the scoring with the assists going to Kyle O'Connell (Bridgewater, MA) and George Costa (Winthrop, MA). With 15:08 gone in the first period, Patrick Martin (Hanover, MA) gave the Wolverines a 2-0 lead going into the break.
Period two started with the Moose flying all over the BA zone. BA outshot the Moose 18-13, but the Moose produced more quality scoring opportunities. Nate Potter was tested in close over and over. However, the Moose evened the score at by the end of the second period. "We didn't do a very good job in our own zone. We allowed the Moose to have free rein and drive to the net" said Head Coach Jonathan Lounsbury. Through two periods Potter stopped 21 of 23 shots.
Period three was a back a forth battle. Each team throwing all they had at each other. With 3 minutes remaining in the period and the Moose with a 3-2 lead, Mike Iacobucci(Franklin, MA) scored a tying goal. 26 seconds later the Moose scored to take the lead. All looked lost as BA pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. Iacobucci was feeling heroic as he scored the game typing goal with 59 seconds remaining.
Going into OT, BA once again pressed the attack and won it when Defenseman Chris Howard (Shelburne, VT) blasted a shot on goal. Aaron Semiao (North Reading, MA) tipped the shot over the Moose goalie's shoulder for the win. For the game, BA outshot the Moose 59-37. Robby Campbell(Braintree, MA) finished with 13 saves on 15 shots and picked up the win in net.

BA DEFEATS STARS 5-3

The Wolverines opened the IJHL Showcase with a 5-3 victory over the New England Stars. BA continues to utilize their speed and strength by attacking the opposition from every angle. BA put pucks toward the net and had players drive toward the net looking for rebounds. Of BA's 23 shots, 18 of the were inside the hash marks. "At this level, we expect players to battle for loose pucks. We want players to compete in front of our goal and the opposition's net. These areas of the ice are where the game is won or lost" said Assistant Coach Mike Meserve.
Mike Iacobucci (Franklin, MA) scored his team leading 4th goal of the season, banging in a Pat Martin (Hanover, MA)shot. Sean Eubanks (Cape Elizabeth, ME) scored his first of two goals to give BA a 2-1 lead. The Stars answered back, but George Costa (Winthrop, MA) gave the Wolverines the lead going into the first admission.
The second half, saw a fast paced, tight checking game. The Star tied the score at three, but Eubanks gave the Wolverines a 4-3 lead, when he poked in a Patrick Thornton (Dublin, CA) rebound. Pat Sen (Niles, IL) scored on an empty net to ice the game for BA. Sen, Eubanks, Martin and Kyle O'Connell (Bridgewater, MA) all finished with two points.
Robby Campbell (Braintree, MA) started in net and picked up his second win of the season.

KINGS FALL TO BA 3-0

The Wolverines continued their strong play Sunday morning versus the New Jersey Kings. Bridgton outshot the Kings 38-16 and came away with a 3-0 victory. Patrick Sen (Niles, IL), George Costa (Wintrhop, MA) and Sean Eubanks (Cape Elizabeth, ME) were the goal scorers for Bridgton. The BA forwards peppered the Kings goal over and over. BA hit three or four posts and had a Kyle O'Connell (Bridgewater, MA) blast from the point called back when the net was accidentally knocked off by the King's goalie. "Overall, I was impressed how our players skated with the puck and set up in the King's zone" noted Assistant Coach Mike Meserve.
However, it was the play of the Wolverine's Defense which stole the show. Ian Edwards (Linden, MI) posted his second shutout of the season, stopping all 16 shots he faced. The Wolverine Defense was a wrecking crew all game. The Kings were willing to drive the BA goal, but they paid a serious toll. Trey Rasmussen (West Tisbury, MA), Jake Donahue (Swampscott, MA) and Jimmy Savage (Middleton, MA) were willing and able to control the game in front of Edwards and in the corners. Donahue and Savage lead Bridgton with a plus two rating for the game.

WOLVERINES SWEEP WEEKEND!

BA played their final IJHL Showcase Game Sunday evening against the Maine Moose. This was the second game these played in as many weeks. BA squeaked out a 5-4 OT win in the first contest.
The Wolverines came out for the first period slow. They allowed the Moose room to skate and didn't finish many checks along the boards. However, the Wolverines played tight end zone defense, limited the Moose to just 6 shots. BA answered with 12 shots of their own, but were only able to crack the Moose goalie once. Evan Schwender (Saunderstown, RI) banged in a rebound for a power play goal. "Evan had two players hanging on his back attempting to move him. He stood his ground and outworked them for his first goal of the season" said Head Coach Jonathan Lounsbury.Even with all the offense pressure, BA was down 2-1 going into the first break. Bridgton recognize the need to come out with some extra effort.
The second half was a totally different story. BA put 17 shots on the Moose, while limiting them to 9. Defenseman Dave Stevens (Lynn, MA) scored the equalizer on a blast from the point which beat the Moose goalie on the short side. It was Stevens first goal of the season. With a fresh step and a determined effort, BA capitalized with two more power play goals. First, David Findley (Hamden, CT) scored his first goal of the season winning another battle around the net. Aaron Semiao (North Reading, MA) iced the win with his 3rd goal of the season. Semiao took a feed wheeled in from the off wing and sniped a shot into the upper right corner, just under the crossbar. "We started playing with confidence as the game progressed. When we play with composure, our skills take over and make us a very difficult team to defend" said Assistant Coach Mike Meserve.
Bridgton will be home Friday evening October 16 for a 7:30pm game against the Eastern Kodiaks. BA will then travel to Exeter, NH to play the Kodiaks Saturday 8:30pm. The Wolverines record currently stands at 5-0 with 38 games left to go.

WOLVERINES AND EDWARDS SHUT OUT KODIAKS

The Wolverines second game in as many nights was definitely their best effort of the weekend. The Wolverines defeated the Eastern Kodiaks 4-0 thanks to goalie Ian Edwards (Linden, MI/Motor City Chiefs-CSHL)turning aside all 44 shots. The Wolverines definitely had their lapses, specifically in their own zone. "We have to limit the turnovers, epecially in our own end. At times, we broke out of our zone well, however there were to many times where we just didn't get it done" said Assistant Coach Mike Meserve.
Bridgton Academy scored once in the first, once in the second and twice in the third. Coach Meserve noted "Mike Iacobucci (Franklin, MA), Aaron Semiao (North Reading, MA) and Pat Martin (Hanover, MA) had themselves a real nice weekend. They moved the puck well, put shots to the net and played well in our zone." Iacobucci and Semiao assisted on Martin's first period goal, then added a shorthanded goal in the third. Other BA goal scorers were Sean Eubanks (Cape Elizabeth, ME) and Trey Rasmussen (West Tisbury, MA).
"Thanks to Edwards, we came away with a victory. He was the difference tonight and we appreciate the job he did" said Head Coach Jonathan Lounsbury. Bridgton will continue to build on this weekends success when they attend the IJHL Showcase in Exeter, NH.

BA HOCKEY'S GOAL PROGRAM MAKES FIRST VISIT

On Friday September 2, Kyle O'Connell, George Costa, Patrick Thornton, Patrick Sen and Assistant Coach Mike Meserve participated in a Community Field Trip with two third grade classes from Stevens Brook Elementary School. The Wolverine Hockey Team's "GOAL" Program, is a community service project where Wolverine Hockey Players collaborate with both SBES faculty and students, as well as, other educational centers.

Friday's field trip was a tour around Bridgton, where students had to record what the place was, where it was located and the purpose of the place. The players assisted individual students with writing and comprehension of each place and make sure it was spelled correctly on their worksheet. "I thought the players did an outstanding job working with the students. The students were really excited when the boys showed up. They definitely became very comfortable engaging with the players as the trip went along" said Assistant Coach Mike Meserve.

Wolverine Hockey "GOAL" Program will continue to have monthly visits to 4 SBES classroom, plus will visit 2 local daycare/preschool facilities. They will work with individuals and groups on a wide range of subject matter. Each class the Wolverines visit receive autographs and photos from the players.

Ice Is In!

The ice has gone in at the Bridgton Ice Arena. The hockey team should be skating on campus by early Tuesday. Other remodeling is going on in the locker rooms where the painting is almost complete.

O'Connell Unanimous Selection as Captain

The Bridgton Academy Hockey Team announced its captains for the 2009-’10 season, the leading vote getter, as a unanimous selection, was Kyle O’Connell (Bridgewater, MA). Joining O’Connell as assistant captains are Pat Thornton (Dublin, CA), and George Costa (Winthrop, MA).

O’Connell, a 6’0” 195lbs. defenseman was the stand alone choice by his teammates to be captain. Pat Thornton, assistant captain '09-'10

Pat Thornton, a 6’0” 190lbs. forward is one of two assistant captains. Lounsbury has been impressed with Thornton saying, “Pat’s commitment to the team have shown his peers and the coaching staff that he can be trusted as a leader. His work ethic on and off the ice is contagious, he helps push people to work as hard as they can.”

George Costa, assistant captain '09-'10

Joining Thornton as an assistant captain will be George Costa, a 6’3” 190lbs forward, is as Lounsbury describes, “a pleasant surprise as captain.” Another quiet leader who lets his play speak for itself, “George’s dedication to game proved to his peers that he will do whatever to lead the team to victory.” Coming for a highly regarded high school programs, that’s alumni include Head Coach Jon Lounsbury, George will, “do what it takes to prepare his teammates for the task at hand.”
Lounsbury speaking of the team said, “Coach Meserve and I are very pleased with each and every players performance so far this off season, we believe that these three captains will help bring BA hockey to the next level.”

The Wolverines take to the ice during Parent’s Weekend at home against the Maine Moose on Friday October, 2nd at 7:00 PM and again on Saturday the 3rd at 4:00 PM as they take on the Eastern Kodiaks.

Bridgton Academy: How did you hear about Bridgton Academy?
Kyle O’Connell: Coach Meserve called me up, told me about the program and the school, I was interested, talked with my high school coach Mark Jones, he had heard of Bridgton, and said it was something I should do.

BA: What do you hope to get out of this year at BA academically?
KO: I want to improve my grades, SAT scores, and study habits so I will be ready for college. All the teachers are here to get the best out of you, and with the smaller classes I am able to interact and work 1-on-1 with them, instead of having to wait for 30 students to ask questions.

BA: What do you hope to get out of this year at BA athletically?
KO: I want to develop as an overall player, have a good year both as a player and as a team. This year can set me up to play right away in college.

BA: Which colleges have you looked at/ are you interested in?
KO: I don’t have any set colleges, I am keeping my options open because I want to find a place where I can play. I don’t want to limit myself to one school and then not get in there and be left with nothing.

BA: Who is your biggest role model?
KO: My mother, she has always been there for me, pushing me and trying to get the best out of me. My brother Ryan, and sister Shae, have also been there to support me and help me.

BA: Where do you see yourself in five years?
KO: Not playing hockey, not in the show. Hopefully still involved in hockey though, as the head coach at my former high school, Bridgewater-Raynham, and also teaching there.

BA: What does it mean to be a Wolverine?
KO: It’s a chance to be part of a select few that get to go through with an extra year of school and sports, before continuing on with the goal of college, and going further in college than you would have without the year.

BA: What are you most looking forward to this year?
KO: I am looking forward to getting better grades which will allow me to get to the next level in hockey.

BA: What is your favorite class you are taking right now?
KO: Statistics with Mr. Gately.

BA: What is your most challenging class?
KO: Political Science with Mr. Lesure, because there are so many angles to the government.

BA: What is your favorite sports memory that you have been involved in?
KO: Winning my school’s first ever state tournament hockey games in ’08. We also had the best record in school history: 15-6-1.

BA: What is your favorite sports memory that you have not been a part of?
KO: 2004 when the Red Sox won four straight from the Yankees and then went on to sweep the Cardinals and win the World Series.

BA: Do you have any pregame rituals?
KO: Nothing major, I usually drink a monster energy drink before games and have a Reese’s.

BA: What do you listen to for music?
KO: Everything, rap, rock, country… some country. Before games I like to relax and calm my nerves, so I will listen to music that is more laid back.

BA: Do you have any other hobbies or interesting facts about yourself:
KO: I like playing card games, poker mostly; I played football in high school so I get together with friends at home and play.

Coach Mike Meserve, his son Cameron, daughter Delaney and father John, joined Bridgton students Trey Rasmussen, Nick Billingham, George Wickey, Jacob Donahue, David Findley and Justin Miller Saturday evening for the the Lewiston Maniacs game versus Baie-Comeau Drakkar. The boys enjoyed a great game, good food and a lot of funny jokes provided by Team Manager Cameron Meserve. The Maniacs won a hard fought battle 4-1.
